Diving into the heart of Semarang, our journey in exploring potential partnerships with universities continues! With a successful track record, we’ve set out once again to expand opportunities for students and foster closer collaboration with institutions. Dive in and find out how we made it happen this time around.
A Flashback: Initial Responses
First Contact:
In mid-December 2017, we reached out to various universities in Semarang with internship proposals. The outcome? Overwhelming support! University deans from several institutions gave their thumbs up.
Mutual Benefits:
Beyond simply sourcing interns for our team, we’ve also provided universities with avenues to secure internship spots for their students.
The Strategy Reshuffle
Forming New Teams:
On February 8, 2018, we adopted a fresh approach. Our team split into two groups; Mr. Dhanur and Mr. Andre represented the administrative and HR fronts, while our interns from Semarang, Maria and Wahyu, formed the second group. This tactic was designed to maximize efficiency and offer our interns invaluable communication experience.
Preparation is Key:
A day prior, Mr. Andre took the lead in crafting an offer letter and setting the game plan with the team. The strategic division saw the first group targeting Soegijapranata University, Stikubank University, and Dian Nuswantoro University. On the other hand, Maria and Wahyu took on Semarang University, Semarang State University, and Semarang State Polytechnic.
Journey of Group 1
Initial Success:
The day began with a visit to Soegijapranata University. After a productive discussion with the faculty dean, the internship offer was officially tabled. Stikubank University echoed this sentiment.
A Slight Hiccup:
However, Dian Nuswantoro University posed a challenge, with the absence of the dean and deputy dean thwarting our plans.
Group 2’s Endeavors
Navigating Challenges:
A small hiccup occurred at Polines, with Group 2 initially struggling to locate the right faculty. Fortunately, this was resolved, and the team could engage with the dean.
Building Bridges:
At Semarang State University, the process was seamless. Interestingly, the University of Semarang hinted at deeper collaborations, hinting at a possible MoU in the future.
Shifting Our Focus
Targeting New Faculties:
This round, we pivoted from the IT/IS domain to zero in on Management and Economics, particularly the Faculty of Economics and Business. The mission? To bolster our management and administrative segments, especially in orchestrating remote internships.
Anticipation Builds:
As we eagerly await the universities’ responses, we predict a requirement for 4-6 interns for a 52-day stint.
In Conclusion
Our journey in Semarang has been a mix of successes and learning opportunities. As we inch closer to our goal, we remain hopeful that our initiative will foster stronger ties between academia and the industry. Stay tuned for Series #03!
